WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

I was looking through the photos on my laptop and came across these little beauties. These are handmade wedding invitation prototypes that I put together last year to pass the time between exams (when I should have been revising!). In my procrastination I came up with a whole business idea: to start my own boutique handmade invitations company in case I did fail my finals! I named my company Chantilly Press after my original lace-edged design, and thought I would carry the name over when I started my blog. Maybe when I have a spare 5 minutes I'll whip up another few designs and follow through with the dream...who knows?! X

HEAVY HEART

It is with such sadness in my heart that I write this post today. If you watch the news - no matter where you are - you probably know what I'm about to say. The brutal murder of soldier Lee Rigby just metres from his army barracks in Woolwich in broad daylight yesterday, has sent Britain into a state of shock. This young man was butchered in plain view of onlookers after being mown down by his attackers leaving, a two year old son without a father. Let our thoughts be with Lee's family and friends who are trying to come to terms with this tragic and devastating loss.

But let us also consider how we make judgements in the aftermath of this tragedy. Whilst it is clear that this incident is an example of extremist, even terrorist, behaviour, we must be careful not to make sweeping statements about those who follow the same faith as Lee's attackers. It is neither right nor fair to judge the followers of a religion on the actions of a few. It is precisely this judgement and outrage that these extremists are looking to provoke. They want to create division amongst us but we should respond with unity, and this starts with supporting each other no matter what faith or religion we choose to follow.

DENIM AND CORAL

For my day off work today I chose to escape from my work wardrobe of pencil skirts and blouses, and opted for something a little more casual. Double denim might be a few seasons out of date, but I still love it! I chose to accessorise with this contrast coral pendant which I bought from a boutique jewellery store on the island of Capri off the Sorrentine Peninsual in beautiful Italy. I thought it looked at home in this sea of blue denim. X

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAISY!

Here's the cake I made for my brother's girlfriend for her birthday. It's four layers of my favourite red velvet cake with white chocolate cream cheese frosting, all iced in white with neon ribbons and a photo transfer topper! And the best bit? It was a complete surprise! Happy Birthday Daisy. X

BANK HOLIDAY

Here's a few of my favourites from the most gorgeously sunny bank holiday I've ever had. If only we had tomorrow off work too...X
